Description
Cyrex Array 2 — Intestinal Antigenic Permeability Screen™
Cyrex Array 2 is the most comprehensive available test for intestinal permeability (“leaky gut”), measuring multiple markers of tight junction breakdown, bacterial endotoxin translocation, and actomyosin network damage.
Antigens / Markers Tested:
- Actomyosin IgG/IgA/IgM — cytoskeletal damage to enterocytes
- Occludin/Zonulin IgG/IgA/IgM — tight junction protein integrity
- Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) IgG/IgA/IgM — gram-negative bacterial endotoxin translocation into the bloodstream
Clinical Applications:
- Diagnosis and monitoring of leaky gut / intestinal hyperpermeability
- Autoimmune disease investigation (gut is the primary gateway for autoimmune triggers)
- Chronic inflammatory conditions
- Food sensitivity and reactivity workup
- IBD, IBS, and functional digestive disorders
Sample Type:
Blood serum — single blood draw.

Array 2 – Intestinal Antigenic Permeability Screen is an advanced blood test designed to evaluate immune system responses to intestinal barrier breakdown, commonly associated with “leaky gut.”
Unlike functional permeability tests that measure absorption, this test detects antibodies produced against tight junction proteins, cytoskeletal structures, and bacterial endotoxins, indicating that the immune system has been exposed to substances crossing the gut barrier.
👉 As shown in the report, the test measures antibodies against:
- Actomyosin
- Occludin/Zonulin
- Lipopolysaccharides (LPS)
This provides insight into whether intestinal permeability is triggering systemic immune activation.
🔬 What This Test Measures
1. Tight Junction Proteins
- Occludin / Zonulin (IgG, IgA, IgM)
👉 Indicates breakdown of intestinal barrier integrity
2. Cytoskeletal Proteins
- Actomyosin IgA
👉 Reflects structural damage to intestinal lining
3. Bacterial Endotoxins
- Lipopolysaccharides (LPS) antibodies
👉 Indicates translocation of bacterial toxins into bloodstream
🧠 Clinical Insights
- Detects immune response to gut barrier damage
- Identifies systemic exposure to bacterial toxins
- Helps assess link between gut and autoimmune conditions
- Supports evaluation of chronic inflammation and food sensitivities
⚠️ Important Distinction
👉 This test does NOT measure permeability directly
👉 It measures immune response to permeability
🔷 Array 2 vs Genova Intestinal Permeability Test
| Feature | Cyrex Array 2 | Genova Permeability |
|---|---|---|
| Method | Blood (antibodies) | Urine (absorption markers) |
| Measures | Immune response | Barrier function |
| Zonulin | ✔ Indirect (antibodies) | ❌ |
| Lactulose/Mannitol | ❌ | ✔ |
| Detects inflammation | ✔ | Limited |
| Best For | Autoimmune & chronic inflammation | Functional gut barrier testing |
🔥 When to Choose What
👉 Choose Genova test
✔ If you want to know: “Is my gut leaking?”
👉 Choose Cyrex Array 2
✔ If you want to know: “Is my immune system reacting to that leak?”
