Description
This is an Add-On Test
This test is available only as an add-on with GI Effects® Profiles and cannot be ordered as a standalone test.
The Helicobacter pylori Stool Antigen Test (HpSA) is a targeted diagnostic test designed to detect active H. pylori infection using a stool sample.
H. pylori is a bacterium that colonizes the stomach lining and is a known cause of gastritis, peptic ulcer disease, and is associated with increased risk of gastric cancer.
This test detects H. pylori antigens directly in stool, making it a reliable method for identifying current infection as well as monitoring treatment effectiveness.
👉 As shown in the report, results are reported as positive or negative for H. pylori antigen presence
🔬 What This Test Measures
1. H. pylori Stool Antigen (HpSA)
- Detects bacterial antigen in stool
👉 Indicates active infection, not past exposure
🧠 Clinical Insights
- Identifies active H. pylori infection
- Supports diagnosis of:
- Gastritis
- Peptic ulcers
- Chronic acidity and reflux
- Can be used to monitor treatment success
👤 Who Should Consider This Add-On
👉 Recommended if you have:
- Chronic acidity or reflux
- Upper abdominal pain
- History of ulcers
- Suspected H. pylori infection
⚠️ Limitations
- ❌ Does not provide virulence factors
- ❌ No antibiotic resistance data
- ❌ Limited to H. pylori only
👉 For advanced H. pylori analysis (virulence + resistance), consider GI-MAP®
🔷 Where This Test Fits
This add-on is best used with:
- GI Effects® Comprehensive → full gut + H. pylori
- GI Effects® Pathogen Profile → infection + H. pylori
👉 Adds targeted H. pylori detection to broader gut analysis
🔷 Comparison: H. pylori Add-On vs GI-MAP®
| Feature | H. pylori Add-On | GI-MAP® |
|---|---|---|
| Detection Method | Antigen (EIA) | DNA (qPCR) |
| Detects Infection | ✔ Yes | ✔ Yes |
| Virulence Factors | ❌ | ✔ |
| Antibiotic Resistance | ❌ | ✔ |
| Scope | Only H. pylori | Full microbiome + pathogens |
🔥 Final Positioning
👉 Use this add-on when the question is:
“Do I have H. pylori infection?”
👉 Use GI-MAP when the question is:
“What type of H. pylori and how to treat it?”
