Description
Fecal Gluten Peptide — Stand-Alone
This test directly measures immunogenic gluten peptide fragments in stool, providing objective evidence of whether gluten ingestion is actually occurring. Unlike antibody-based gluten tests that detect immune responses (which can lag or persist), fecal gluten peptides confirm real-time dietary gluten exposure — making it the most reliable tool for monitoring compliance with a gluten-free diet.
Marker Measured:
- Fecal Gluten Immunogenic Peptides (GIP): Quantitative detection of partially digested, immunotoxic gliadin peptide fragments in stool — present only when gluten has been recently consumed
Clinical Applications:
- Monitoring gluten-free diet compliance in celiac disease
- Detecting inadvertent gluten exposure (cross-contamination, hidden gluten)
- Explaining persistent symptoms despite reported gluten-free diet
- Paediatric celiac disease monitoring
Sample Type:
Stool — single collection.
